Alan Cooper

Alan “Smokey” Cooper, 77, Jackson Township, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2023 at The Meadows Nursing Center.

Born in Shavertown, he was the son of the late Robert and Dorothy Wilcox Cooper and was a graduate of Lake Lehman High School.

He worked in the road construction industry with American Asphalt and Pennsy Supply for many years before his retirement. Post retirement Big Al spent time delivering for Advanced Auto.  Alan was also a former volunteer with the Jackson Twp. Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of The Huntsville United Methodist Church. Some of his favorite pass times over the years were hunting, snowmobiling and spending time with his grand puppies Apex, Hans and Sadie.  They were the light of his life, and they loved their Poppyseed.

Alan was preceded in death by brothers, Grant and Gary Cooper. Surviving is his daughter, Nicole Cooper-Cefalo and her husband Marc, Mountain Top, and son, Alan Cooper, Shavertown. Sister, Jane Smith and several nieces and nephews. Also, his beloved grand-dogs, Apex, Hans, and Sadie.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 27, 2023 at 10:00 AM from The Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas with The Rev. Robert Zanicky, officiating. Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas. Friends may call Sunday from 6 to 8 PM. Online condolences may be sent to Disquefuneralhome.com
