Alice M. Bartlett, 80, Dallas passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Margery Cooke Cole and was a graduate of GAR High School. She was also a graduate of Wilkes College with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education in 1963, as well as The University of Scranton in 1966 with a Master’s of Science degree.
Alice was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Dallas. She served as a Deacon and Elder of the church and was a member of the Trinity Learning Center advisory board. She served as Executive director of the church learning center advisory board. She was a member of the Women of Trinity Association. Alice was also affiliated with Wilkes Chorus, Wilkes Women’s Chorus - serving as its president in her senior year, a member of the Education Club and Theta Delta Rho. She was also a member of the Wilkes-Barre Area Education association and Wilkes-Barre Area Women’s Club. Member of the Pennsylvania School Employees Retirement System and Pennsylvania Association of School Retiree’s. The former Irem Temple Antique and Classic car ladies and Irem Temple Auxiliary.
She taught fifth grade at Dodson Elementary School in the Wilkes-Barre Area School District.
Alice was preceded in death by her husband of forty-six years, Charles E. Bartlett. Sister, Ellen Cole, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mary and Robert Bowersox. Surviving are her brother, Bruce Thomas Cole and Debra Hess, Naples, Fla. Nieces, Diane Havrilla and husband Edward, Williamsport and Jennifer White and her husband Brian Hammonsport, NY. Great nephews, Daniel Havrilla and wife Megan, Joseph Havrilla and Gregory DiTomasso, Great Great Nephew, Timothy Edward Havrilla.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 11:00am at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Dallas. A private family entombment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas. Friends may call Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00pm at The Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, Inc. 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas, Pa. 18612. Those attending the Funeral are to go directly to the church.
