Dorothy Teresinski Withey Carroll, 103, Dallas, daughter of Michael F. Teresinski and Helen Golomb Teresinski passed away, Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at The Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas. Dotte was born December 19, 1920 in Kingston, but spent her youth in Wilkes-Barre.
She graduated from GAR High School, and attended Bucknell Junior College and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Penn State University and completed her Master of Arts degree at New York University.
“Mrs. Withey” taught for over 30 years as the arts supervisor for The Dallas School District. Dorothy loved her students and inspired many to express their own creativity in their own manner as teachers, designers, and exhibiting artists.
As an artist herself, she had many successful art exhibitions including at Penn State. She enjoyed creating her own line of painted brooches called “Oh! Originals”.
Preceeding her in death she suffered the loss of two husbands John “Jack” Oliver Withey and William J. Carroll, her parents, her brother Thomas Terry and sister, Florence T. Owens and step-daughter, Resia Carroll.
Dorothy is survived by her family in the United Kingdom and Spain. Daughter, Deborah Ann Withey of Pembrokeshire, Wales, Grandson, Tam David Withey-Giner, a student at University College London, and son-in-law Dr. Juan Antonio Giner, step daughter-in-law Carroll Carroll, stepsons, Dr. William J. Carroll, Jr., Tim Carroll, several grandsons, nieces and nephews, and her dear friend Andrew Cappucci.
Dorothy was the past president of the Wyoming Valley Women’s Club and a member of the Penn State Alumni Association, Theta Phi Sorority and the Altar and Rosary Society of Our Lady of Victory Church, Harveys Lake.
Funeral service will be held, Monday, March 18, 2024 at 9:30 AM from The Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas, Pa. 18612 with Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Victory Church, Harveys Lake.
