Elaine J. Grobe, 86, of Clarks Summit, died March 27, 2025 at Geisinger- Community Medical Center after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing. Born in Wilkes-Barre on July 28, 1938, she was the daughter of the late John Kutney and Helen Hirko Kutney. Elaine was a graduate of Coughlin High School and previously worked as an Operator for Bell Telephone Company.
In 1960, she married the love of her life, the late Vincent J. Grobe. Together they shared 57 wonderful years of marriage prior to his passing in 2017.
Elaine will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who deeply valued spending time with her family. She spent most of her life in Moosic raising her family, and enjoyed being involved in all of her children’s activities. She made holidays, birthdays and countless family gatherings memorable with her special recipes and witty enthusiasm.
In addition to her family, she treasured her lifelong friends, especially the members of the Greenwood Card Club. She had an amazing sense of humor and a kind and generous nature. She would do anything for a friend or family member in need, and these kind gestures define her legacy.
She is survived by her daughters, Carol Lee McDonald, with whom she resided, and Nancy Caplette, Clarks Summit. She also is survived by her grandson, Ryan McDonald, Clarks Summit, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held, Wednesday April 2 at 10 AM from St. Benedict’s Church, 1849 Newton Ransom Blvd, Clarks Summit, with Mass of Christian Burial by the Rev. John Lapera. Friends may call between the hours of 9 and 10 AM. at the Church. Interment will be at a later date at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Arrangements are under the direction of The Richard H.
