Francis "Frank" Patts, 85, Dallas, passed away Friday, March 16, 2018 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Born in Hudson, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary Mikulick Patts and was a graduate of Plains High School and Elizabethtown University with a degree in criminal justice. He also attended King's College.
He was a member of St. Francis Cabrini Church, Wyoming. Frank was a Training Coordinator with the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections and was the academy director for the State of Pennsylvania. He was with the Department of Corrections for 33 years. Starting at SCI Graterford and ending at SCI Dallas and SCI Retreat. He was the superintendent for The Tunkhannock County Prison. Frank was in the 109th field artillery. While being deployed to Camp Atterbury for active duty, he was involved in the train wreck where his train full of troops was rear ended by another speeding train. After 12 years serving the US Army, he retired with the rank of Sergeant First Class. He was a life member of The Polish American Club in Hudson, Knights of Columbus and American Legion.
He was a wonderful son, husband, father and grandfather to all. His daughter, Joni, was his "end of the rainbow" and he was her pot of gold. He was gifted with a great sense of humor and a zest for life. He and his wife had traveled to all 50 states twice as well as traveling to many countries.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years the former Joan Zeedock and a son James Patts, sister Stacia Kardos. He is survived by sons, Frank Patts and his wife Effie, Sugar Notch, Russell Patts and his wife Billie, Hudson, Robert Patts and his wife Donna, Hanover Twp., Joseph Patts and his wife Sharon, Harding, daughter, Joni Petro and her husband Mike, Hunlock Creek. 16 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren.
Funeral will be held Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 10:00 am from The Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas, with The Rev. James Paisley, pastor St. Francis Cabrini Church, officiating. Entombment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Wyoming. Friends may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM.
