Helen E. Hemenway of Dallas, a most beloved and cherished mother, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Birchwood Nursing Center, Nanticoke. She was 98. Born in Newport, Delaware, she was the daughter of the late George and Irene (Price) Weer and was a graduate of Kingston High School.
Helen was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for more than 40 years, and a joyful member of the Dallas congregation. She was an exceptional seamstress since high school days, eventually working at Natona Mills and Leslie Fay for some years before her retirement. Helen was a former member of The Eastern Star.
For many years she also enjoyed her friends at card club.
Helen was a hard worker, and for years had a large, productive garden while living at Hayfield Farm. All of her life she was a positive influence on her family and to all who knew her. She truly kept a smile in her eyes until she died.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin T. Hemenway in
1994, and her brother, Carlton Weer. Surviving are daughters, Patricia
Harrison, Shavertown, Carol Williamson and her husband Robert,
Wilmington, DE, Betty Saba and her husband Anthony, Harveys Lake. Also 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.
Funeral will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas.
