Irene Yesson Jorda, 93 years old from Shavertown, was called from her home to eternal life by the Sacred Heart of Jesus, on October 5, 2021. Irene was a devout Catholic who offered her pain and sufferings daily to the Sacred Heart as well as to Our Lady of Fatima.
Born in 1928 in Edwardsville, she was the daughter of the late Mary and Charles Yesson. After graduating from Edwardsville High School, Irene enrolled in the Wilkes-Barre Business School and soon after began working for the Social Security Administration and was later fortunate to find a home with the Sordoni Company in Forty Fort. Irene took her talents later to the Commonwealth Telephone Company, Dallas, Wyoming Quality Beverage, Wyoming, and Falcone Beverage, Pittston. Irene was the only person known to her family to have met Budweiser’s Spuds McKenzie!
Irene was married to her high school sweetheart, George M. Jorda, for 70 years. Together they raised six great children the Lord had blessed them with.
In addition to her late parents, Irene was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Mary Anne Harris and her delightful brother, Charles Jr., and of course the love of her life, George in 2020.
Irene is survived by her daughter, Maureen, a resident of the White Haven Center, son Deacon John C. of Dallas, daughters, Georgine, Dallas, Michelle Kapral and husband, Gerald, Dallas, daughter Janel and Karla Youngblood, Northampton, Massachusetts, and son Charles and his wife Susan of Dallas.
Irene was also blessed by five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
