Jane George, 100, of Tunkhannock, passed away, Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Britany Pointe Estates, Lansdale, Pa.
Born in Parsons, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Marie Williams Trethaway and was a graduate of Mansfield University with a BA in Education and Marywood with a Masters in Education. She taught English at Tunkhannock Area High School for many years. She was a member of The Tunkhannock Presbyterian Church. Jane was honored in 2015 when the city of Tunkhannock named "Jane George" day when she turned 100.
Jane was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Trethaway. Surviving are her sons, William A. George, and his wife Carol, Wallingford, Pa., Robert George and his wife Gayle, Lansdale, Pa., 8 Grandchildren and 20 Great Grandchildren. Brother, Harold Trethaway, Dallas, Pa. and sister Marjorie Trethaway, Wilkes-Barre.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 10:00 am at The Tunkhannock Presbyterian Church,51 Putnam Street, Tunkhannock with the Rev. Dr. Donald A. Drewett, officiating. Interment will be in Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville. Friends may call at the church from 9:00 am until time of service. Arrangements are under the direction of The Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas.
