Janice Martinchak

September 19, 1940 — January 13, 2017

Janice E. Martinchak, 76, of Dallas, passed away, Friday, January 13, 2017 at Celtic Hospice, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Kingston, she was the daughter of the late Burton and Bertha Riley Roberts. Janice graduated ftom Westmoreland High School and worked as an Administrative Assistant with RCN Communications as wells as with The Sisters of Mercy. She was a devoted member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Dallas and was a member of the Dorcas Society within the church. Janice was a member of The Eastern Star Chapter 396, Dallas. She was an avid pie baker and had won many Blue Ribbon awards at The Fall Fairs for her pies. She loved to can and preserve the fresh foods grown in the large garden tended by her loving husband. Janice was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Roushey. Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Eugene Martinchak at home, daughters, Ann Marie Silvestri, Shavertown, Jodi Sprau and her husband Bill, Shavertown, and Christina Bonath, West Wyoming. Grandchildren, Matthew and Morgan Silvestri, and Grant, Reid, Porter Luksic, Owen Sprau. Brother, William Roberts and Sister-in-law Maxine, Sister, Sue Bush and her husband Carl. Funeral will be held Monday, January 16, 2017 at 11:00 Am at The Richard H. Disque Funeral Home Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas with the Rev. Charles Grube, pastor St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Dallas. Friends may call Sunday from 6 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Donations in Janice's memory may be sent to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, c/o 474 Yalick Road, Dallas, Pa. 18612. Eastern Star Chapter 396, Dallas will have services Sunday Evening.
