Joan T. Pappas, 91, of Trucksville, passed away, Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at The Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas and was reunited with her loved ones in heaven. She will forever be remembered for her sweet heart, kind soul, and always having a smile on her face.
Born on August 20th, 1932, in Kingston, PA, she was the daughter of the late Paul B. and Marie Turpaud Smith. She graduated from Kingston High School, where she was a member of the majorette squad. Joan enjoyed attending all her class reunions and continued to make memories with old friends throughout the years. Following high school, she was employed at Electrolux, and later at Wilkes College in the registrar’s office until her retirement.
Joan was a beloved mother to her four children. She not only cared for her own children but also looked after the neighborhood kids known as the Chester St. “schoolyard gang” (you know who you are). Joan was blessed to find true love with her devoted husband, Edward Pappas. In her free time, she loved gardening, sewing and her late dog Missy. Once her children were grown, her favorite chapter of life began - being a grandmother. She cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and loved having them over for nights of swimming, sleepovers and ice cream on the back porch. Joan was later blessed with eight great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, with the youngest affectionately named after her, Lainey Joan.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Pappas, sister Jeanne Jones and sons, Donald and Paul Williamson. She is survived by her brother, Paul Smith; son David Lee Williamson; daughter Christine Organek; stepdaughters Brenda Wilson and Debbie Teller; grandchildren Ryan Williamson, Christopher Organek, Jaime Love, Shelby Mullen, Megan Williamson, Joanna Gruver, and Sean Paul Williamson; as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
We extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Meadows Nursing Center who took great care of Joan during her time there.
