Joan Ritts

April 18, 1930 — November 28, 2016

Joan Terese Ritts, 86, of Harveys Lake, passed away Monday, November 28, 2016 surrounded by family at Celtic Hospice, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Mary (Mooney) Tripp and was a graduate of GAR High School, class of 1948. She and Charles moved to New Jersey where they spent 43 years raising their children. Joan was employed with the East Hanover School District as head of the cafeteria for over 20 years, before retiring back to Harveys Lake PA. They have spent the last 20 years happily retired with a tremendous group of friends and family. Joan was a former member of St. Rose of Lima Church, NJ and and was currently a member of Our Lady of Victory Church, Harveys Lake. She was an integral part of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Harveys Lake American Legion Post 967. Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Charles Ritts, Harveys Lake, son, Kenneth Ritts and his wife Jami, Lake Hopatcong, NJ, daughters, Patricia DuBeau and her husband Edward, East Hanover, NJ., and Kathleen Bardi, Harveys Lake. Joan was blessed with 6 wonderful grandchildren, Brian Ritts, Matthew and Caitlyn Bardi and Sean, Connor and Christopher DuBeau and many, many friends. Joan was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Tripp and a sister, Maureen Donnelly

A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of Victory Church, Harveys Lake at 11:00 am on Friday, December 9, 2016, with The Rev. Daniel Toomey, pastor Our Lady of Victory Church, officiating, with a luncheon to follow at the American Legion Harveys Lake Post 967.
