Joseph Mcdonald

Joseph L. McDonald, 87, Dallas, passed away, Friday, July 13, 2018 at The Gardens at Lakeside, Dallas. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late William and Mary Boyle McDonald and was a graduate of Coughlin High School, class of 1949, Wilkes-Barre.  He was employed in the printing department of the Wilkes-Barre Publishing Company, later becoming the Citizen’s Voice before his retirement.

Joseph was a member of the ITU (International Type Setting Union). He was also with the Dallas Kiwanis Club as well as Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas.

He was preceded in death by Infant children Daniel and Mary Ann McDonald, Son, Lawrence McDonald and his wife Christine, grandson, Kenneth Weidner, brother, William Michael McDonald, Sisters, Betty Gulick and Mary Grace Reposh.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 65 years, the former Shirley Thomas, at home. Son, Christopher McDonald and his wife Betty Jo, Emmaus, Pa., Daughters, Sharlene Weidner and her husband Alan, Centermoreland, Seana Chappell and her husband Jay, Sweet Valley. 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Brother, Michael McDonald and his wife Dian, Texas.

Funeral will be held Monday, July 16, 2018 at 10:00 Am from The Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas, with Funeral Mass at 10:30 Am at Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas with The Rev. Daniel Toomey, pastor, Gate of Heaven Church, officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 6 to 8 PM.
