Joseph H. Saraka, Sr., 83, Trucksville, passed away, Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital. Born in Wilkes-Barre he was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret Harrison Saraka and had attended the Trucksville Elementary School. He was a mechanic with The Tobyhanna Army Depot for many years before his retirement.
Joseph was a member of The Immanuel Baptist Church, Kingston. He was a veteran of The Korean War serving with the Air Force. Joe enjoyed many outdoor activities including Fishing and hunting. He would volunteer many hours with the Dallas Baptist Church with repairs or activities of the church.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Saraka. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, the former Ellen Trihub, at home. Also surviving are daughters, Cheryl Graeber and her husband Steven, Tomahawk, Wis., Karen McHugh and her husband Chris, Swoyersville, sons, Eugene Saraka and his wife Peach, Dallas, Joe Saraka and his wife Cindy, Jackson Twp., sisters, Margarette Kreller, Jean Nafus, and Doris Saraka, 7 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren.
Funeral will be held Monday, January 21, 2019 at 11:00 Am from The Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas, with The Rev. James Quinn, pastor, Immanuel Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas. Friends may call Monday from 10:00 Am until time of service. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Immanuel Baptist Church c/o 25 Zerby Ave., Kingston, Pa. 18704. Please designate donations toward roof repair.
