Joseph E. Sivilich, Jr, passed away peacefully at his residence in Dallas on Monday, February 27, 2017. He was 86 years old and resided here for 10 years. He previously resided in Sugarloaf, PA, during his early retirement years. He was born in Berwick, PA, the oldest son of Joseph, Sr and Jennie (McAfee) Sivilich, and attended both Mocanaqua and Nescopeck schools. He graduated from Nescopeck High School in 1952 and served in the US Navy from 1953 to 1956. He was stationed in Adak, Alaska as a Communications Technician. In September 1959, he married the former Maryann Kobosko and moved to Hillsborough, NJ. He was employed by Egan Machinery Co in Somerville, NJ for 34 years as an extruder technician, maintenance foreman, and later as a sales associate for the company. Joe was an avid bowler and golfer and enjoyed many years golfing with both his family and friends. In retirement, he took up woodworking and proceeded to construct a variety of items for friends and relatives. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Maryann, and three children: son, Mark (Jennifer), Parrish, FL; daughter, Cheryl (John) Salerno, Stockton, NJ; and daughter, Deborah (John) Johnson, Belle Mead, NJ. He also leaves grandsons Nicholas, Dale, Robert, and Joseph and granddaughters Jacquie, Haley, and Jaime and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving him are: brothers Richard (Carolyn) (Orangeville, PA) and Robert (Linda) (Aston, PA) and sister Elaine (Anthony) Young (Bowie, MD); sister-in-laws Betty Tearpock (Endicott, NY), Ann Castelli (Solon, OH), Christine Drury (Sugarloaf, PA), Joanne (Ken) Young (Wasilla, AK). Memorial services will be held Saturday March 4, 2017 at 10:30 AM at St. Theresa's Church, Davis Street, Shavertown. The family will be in attendance to greet friends and relatives at the church from 10:00 AM until time of service. Military Honors will be held at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Richard H. Disque Funeral Home Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joseph's memory may be made to Erwine Hospice, Inc., c/o 270 Pierce Street, Kingston, PA 18704.
