Linda Marie Johnson

Linda Marie Johnson, 75, of Beaumont, passed away Monday, February 24, 2025 at Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia surrounded by family. She was born in Kingston to the late Joseph and Helen (Marks) Makowski and graduated from Kingston High School, class of 1968. She followed her passion for art by earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Arts and Education at Kutztown State College, class of 1971, and a Master of Arts Degree at the University of Scranton, class of 1975.

Linda began her career as an art teacher with Wyalusing School District (1971 to 1975) and after having her 3 children, began substituting with Dallas and Tunkhannock school districts (1985 to 1990). She taught at the Dioceses of Scranton schools from 1990 through her retirement in 2024. Linda was a member of the Pennsylvania Order of Eastern Star, Dallas Chapter #396, and Zara Ladies Club as well as being a member of Alderson United Methodist Church, Harveys Lake.

Known for her creative and adventurous soul, Linda loved teaching the younger generations, traveling anywhere in the world, doing Escape Rooms, and trying her luck at the casinos. She had an incredibly artistic spirit and she never stopped learning new art or craft techniques. Linda always had her eyes open to beauty and creativity in the world around her, and she took inspiration from these observations to create unique assignments for her students. She cared so deeply for her friends, family, and students, and will leave a legacy of love. She will be forever missed.

Linda is survived by her husband of 53 years, Robert E. Johnson. Daughters, Jennifer Johnson – Beaumont and Jessica Johnson and her partner Robin Scott – Seattle, WA. Son, Robert Johnson and his wife Katherine – Sunset Valley, TX. Granddaughters, Pearl, Grace, and Edith Johnson. Sisters, Helen Gregory and Barb Williams. Brother, John Makowski.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Order of The Eastern Star Chapter #396, Dallas, 15 Foster Street, Dallas, Pa. 18612 from 2 to 5 PM.
