Marjorie L. McCarty

     Marjorie L. McCarty, 71, Shavertown, passed away, Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at Birchwood Nursing Center, Nanticoke surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of Marjorie E. McCarty and the late Victor McCarty and was a graduate of Lehman High School class of 1969 and Kings County Hospital, Brooklyn, NY as an RN. Class of 1972. 
       Marjorie had worked in Brooklyn for 18 years and returned home to work with Wilkes-Barre General Hospital as an OR nurse for 33 years before her retirement. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Dallas. She was a former member of The Rainbow girls, Back Mountain in her younger years. Some of her favorite activities were Arts and Crafts, and playing basketball. Her love of nursing came from her years as a candy striper at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital when she was young.  
     Marjorie was preceded in death by her father, Victor E. McCarty, and her nephew, Eric R. McCarty. Surviving are her mother, Marjorie E. McCarty, at home. Brother, Richard E. McCarty and his wife, Nancy, Larksville. Nieces and nephews, Heather, Stephanie, Madison, and Rylan McCarty.
       Memorial service will be held, Monday, May 15, 2023 at 11:00 AM from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Dallas with The Rev. Charles Grube, pastor, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium. Friends may call from 10:00 AM until time of service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of The Richard H.
