Mary Meeker

Mary Ann Meeker, 78, of Dallas, passed away Friday evening, March 16, 2018, at Celtic Hospice, Wilkes-Barre, with family by her side.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Osmyn Harris Owen and Ida Mae (Nicholas) Owen.

Mary was a graduate of Dallas High School, class of 1957, and earned a degree in Medical Terminology from Luzerne County Community College. She retired from Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital in 2001, where she worked as Medical Secretary in the Outpatient Physical Therapy Department.

She enjoyed horticulture, interior design, fashion, crafting, treasure hunting at garage sales and thrift stores. She loved her family most of all. She looked forward to family cookouts and dedicated herself to never missing a birthday, graduation, or a special occasion. Despite many efforts to “cut back” each year, she simply loved giving gifts to those she cared about.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert Dennis Owen; a sister, Lillian M. (Owen) Werts; and sisters-in-law, Katherine M. Scott and Donna Lee Owen.

Surviving are her children, Royann Scott and her husband Alan of Maryville, TN; Eugene Meeker and his wife Theresa of Kunkle; Mary Ann Milbrodt and her husband Thomas of Dallas; godson, Arthur Owen Jr. and his wife Amy of Carverton; brothers, Arthur and Charles Owen of Carverton; grandchildren, Christian Scott, Melody Gilbert, Virginia Leah Steele, Jessica Milbrodt, Eugene Milbrodt, Tanya Dickson, Nicholas Scott, and Matthew Scott; great grandchildren, James, Nicholas, Chloe, Ondrea, Justin, Alexia, Paige, Madyson, Abigail, Natalie, Avery, Bentley, Allison, Kinsley, and Sadie; numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at 6:00 PM at the Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas, with Rev. Lynn Mokwa, pastor Bowman’s Creek Free Methodist Church, officiating. Friends may call Wednesday from 5:00 PM until time of service.
