Mildred K. Bartos, 93, of Orange, PA. passed away Sunday, October 11, 2015, surrounded by her family. She was born in Union City, NJ, a daughter of the late Charles & Kathryn Lang and was a graduate of Emerson High School in Union City. She was married for 62 years to her beloved husband Henry R. Bartos (DOD 8/3/11) and was a resident of Orange for over 35 years. Before that, she raised her family of 5 children for almost 15 years in West Pittston, PA. For the last 5 years, she was a resident of the Villages of Greenbriar in Dallas. In addition to being a loving wife & mother, "Mickey" was a successful business woman. She was Vice- President of the Sanapac Co., a vitamin company she co-founded with her husband in 1957, which is still a family-run business today. Mrs. Bartos was a supporter of many local & national organizations from Music Box Dinner Theater & Ducks Unlimited, locally, to being on the Executive Committee of NCPAC (National Conservative Political Action Committee.). At the 1984 Republican Convention in Dallas, TX, Mr. and Mrs. Bartos co-chaired the largest independent fundraising event of the convention at Bunker Hunt's Circle T. Ranch. They were also on the board of the National Drug Free Alliance and co-chaired their 1989 Annual Gala in Washington, D.C. "Mickey" had an adventurous spirit, which she shared with her husband as they traveled the world, bought & raced thoroughbred horses on both coasts, invested in the Nashville country music industry, enjoyed many trips to Atlantic City & loved jitterbugging on the weekends! She was preceded in death by her husband Henry, granddaughter Kristin Scherer; brothers, Charles & Walter Lang & sister Florence Wilson. She is survived by her children, Barbara Bartos Smith and her husband, Glenn, of Annapolis, Md.; Diane Scherer of Port St. Lucy, Fl.; Darlene Doble and her husband, Jim, of Harding; Robert Bartos and his wife, Sandy, of Dallas; and Joanne Dillon and her husband, David, of Lakewood Ranch, Fla.; grandchildren, Eric Bartos and Steven Scherer; as well as nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her caring, joyous nature was loved and admired by many, including her newest "family" & friends at the Greenbriar. Funeral will be held Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 11:00 am at The Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas, Pa. 18612, Relatives & friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Blue Chip Animal Refuge, in Dallas; or SAFE, Wilkes-Barre (Supporting Autism and Families Everywhere).
