Richard Dejonghe

Richard Z. Dejonghe, 80, Shavertown, passed Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at his residence. Born in Chicago, Il, he was the son of the late Henricus and Agnes Zachar Dejonghe and was a graduate of Garden State High School, Long Island.

Richard had worked with Northeastern Bell, later becoming NYNEX and then, Verizon as a supervisor before his retirement. He was a member of the Harveys Lake Gun and Rifle Club with competitive shooting and SASS (single action shooting society). Pennsylvania Rifle-Pistol Association. He was also involved in the Ham Radio Operators SPARK (Scranton Pocono Amateur Radio Klub).

He is survived by sons, Richard Dejonghe and Thomas A. Dejonghe, both of Mount Pleasant, SC. Sisters, Denise DeChenes, Linda Bruno,and Deborah Moncho.

A Memorial service with military honors will be held Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of The Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas, Pa. 18612. Online condolences can be sent to Disquefuneralhome.com
