Robert Astary

Robert W. Astary, 69, Dallas, passed away Monday, October 18, 2021 at his residence. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Michael and Dorothy Cochran Astary and was a graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School.

Robert was a Corrections Officer with Dallas SCI. While at Dallas SCI he was a Captain and was the Crisis Trainer before his retirement.

Rob loved to travel and see the world. He made friends wherever he went. That world included seeing a lot of things from the back of his horse. In fact, that is how he met his love, Sharon. Some of his other favorite activities included ballroom dancing and taking his Aussie out as a therapy dog.

Surviving are his wife of 20 years, the former Sharon Yalick. Daughters, Carrie Hoover, Bloomsburg and Lindsey Charneski and her husband Brian, Pikes Creek. Grandson, C.J. Charneski. Sister, Roberta Troyand her husband Bruce.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, October 21, 2021 at 11:00 AM at The Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas, Pa. 18612 with The Rev. James Pall, officiating.
