Ruth L. Johnson, 96, of Lehman, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord, Friday January 3, 2014 at the Lakeside Nursing Home, Idetown. Born March 8, 1917 in Lehman, she was the daughter of the late Russell and Alice Elizabeth (Lizzy) Ide. She was a graduate of Lehman High School. She was a life long member of the Lehman - Idetown United Methodist Church as well as a member of Lady Toby Rebekah Lodge #514, where she served for many years as District Deputy President. She lived her life by their creed, to live peaceably, do good and abide by the Golden Rule. Determined and alert to the very end, she is one of last of a generation of strong women who lived through the Great Depression and World War II. She was preceded in death by her husband Glenn T. 1988; brother Albert Ide, sister Grace Ide. Surviving are daughter Shirley Smith and husband Harold (Sonny), Dallas; son Glenn Lee Johnson and wife Karen, Lehman, with whom she resided, 6 grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren. Funeral will be held Monday at 11:00 AM at The Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, Inc. 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas, with The Rev. Robert Ryder Pastor, Lehman-Idetown United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Huntsville Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 10 am until time of service.
