Sandra S. Richardson, 81, Dallas, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital. Born in Lewiston, ME, she was the daughter of the late Alton and Ruth (Berger) Sprout. Sandra was a graduate of Westmoreland High School where she was head majorette and May Queen. She also graduated from Wilkes-Barre Business College.
Early in her career, Sandra was employed by ACME markets as the secretary to the Human Resources director. She later became a licensed real estate broker with M.M. Griffin Real Estate. Sandra spent most of her years as a housewife and raising her children. She was a member of Shavertown United Methodist Church and, previously, was a bell choir member at Dallas United Methodist Church. Sandra was on the board of directors for the Women with Children program at Misericordia University and a member of Back Mountain Bloomers, the Dallas Federated Women’s Club, and the Newberry Estates Women’s Golf League. She was a supporter of the Back Mountain Memorial Library. Sandra loved spending time with her friends, family, and grandchildren. She very much enjoyed playing mahjong and book club meetings with friends.
She is survived by her husband Robert, with whom she recently celebrated 58 years of marriage. Sons, Robert Richardson, Jr. and his wife Molly, Harleysville, PA; Mark Richardson and his wife Carolyn, Bedminster, NJ. Daughter, Susan Crahall and her husband AJ, Dallas, PA. Grandchildren, Carly, Nora, Reese, William, John, Daniel, Emily, and Zachary.
Sandra’s family would like to acknowledge with thanks Dr. James Brady and staff at the Geisinger Henry Cancer Center and Dr. Karim Djekidel and staff at the Geisinger Critical Care Unit.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, June 2 at 11:00 AM at Shavertown United Methodist Church, 163 N. Pioneer Ave., Shavertown, PA 18708. Interment will be private for family. Arrangements are under the direction of The Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas. Online condolences may be made at Disquefuneralhome.com. Those attending the service will be required to wear masks and social distancing requirements will be observed. For this reason, calling hours will not be held.
