Stephanie Gionta

Stephanie M. Gionta, 36, of Pittston, PA passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital with family by her side. Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, she was the daughter of the former Lynn Mihal and the late Joseph Gionta, Jr. She was a graduate of Bishop O’Reilly High School and of Cedar Crest College, Allentown.

She attended Gate of Heaven Schools and was an active member of Gate of Heaven Church. Stephanie was a consistently curious, self-motivated and hard-working student. Stephanie’s true passion was Irish Step-Dancing. She studied for ten years with the Emerald Isle Step Dancers and frequently participated in local and national festivals and competitions. She was an active participant in community service at Cedar Crest College and graduated magna cum laude with a BS in Nutrition. She served her country proudly with the United States Air Force as a 2nd Lieutenant.

She is survived by her mother, Lynn Gionta of Pittston, PA, sister, Jessica (Adam) Davis of Gladwyne, PA, brother, Alexander (Tracy) Gionta of Pottstown, PA, grandfather, Dr. Victor Mihal, of Shamokin, PA, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was a beloved aunt to three young children. Stephanie is preceded in death by her father, Joseph Gionta, Jr., grandfather, Joseph Giunta Sr., and grandmothers, Rosaire Giunta and Eleanor Mihal.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas, PA. Entombment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas, PA. All are invited to attend a Memorial luncheon following the service at The Beaumont Inn.
