Thomas Makara

Thomas M. Makara, 69, Dallas, passed into our Lord’s hands on Friday, February 23, 2018 at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital surrounded by his wife and daughters. Born in Nanticoke, he was the son of the late Leonard and Mary Kubicz Makara. He graduated from Kingston High School. Thomas was a member of Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas.

He was an Electronics Technician with Tobyhanna Army Depot before his retirement in 2013, after over 30 years of government service. Thomas served his country with the Army during the Viet Nam era. He was a member of the Daadow Issacs post #672 American Legion, Dallas.

Thomas always loved his family very deeply and cared for them in every possible way he could. Not only was he always there for his family, he was always willing and happy to help friends and neighbors. Some of his favorite hobbies were fishing, hunting and long scenic motorcycle rides. He enjoyed all outdoor activities along with building and creating projects. He took pleasure in traveling with family and friends, especially going on cruises. Most of all he loved the trips to California to visit his daughter.

Thomas is survived by his wife of 45 years, the former Patricia

Katacinski; Daughters, Melissa Gogick, Plains, Lisa Makara, Shavertown, Nicole Makara Bentson and her husband Brock, Lake Forest, Ca.; three grandchildren, Victoria, Michael, and Elizabeth. Preceding him in death was his brother, Norman Makara.

Thomas will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all.

Funeral will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 10:00 from The Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, Inc., 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas, with Funeral Mass at 10:30 Am at Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas with The Rev. Daniel Toomey, pastor, Gate of Heaven Church, officiating. Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Plains. Friends may call Monday from 6 to 8 PM.
