William Tabor

William F. Tabor William F.Tabor, 72, of Dallas passed away on January 9, 2016 at General Hospital in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. He was born on March 12, 1943 in Wilkes-Barre to the late William H. and Frances (Nakliski) Tabor. Bill grew up in the Lee Park section of Hanover Township. He graduated from Hanover High School in 1960. In 1960 he joined the Navy and served for 4 years spending most of his time on the USS Intrepid. He attended Penn State University in Wilkes-Barre where he earned his Associates degree in Electrical Engineering. He went to work for PPL in 1967 as a Heavy Machine Operator and retired as an Emergency Planning Manager. Bill was married to his loving wife, the former Carol Hudzik of West Nanticoke, and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 24th, 2015. Bill was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Assembly 925, Wilkes-Barre and a former member and President of the Dallas Lions. He was a member of the Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas. Bill was preceded in death by his parents William H. and Frances Tabor and sister Frances Lyons. Surviving is his loving wife the former Carol Hudzik at home, his daughter Karen and her husband Jeff Martin of Hunlock Creek, Pa; son, Bill and his wife Keera (Sopp) Tabor of Dallas, Pa: brother Robert and his wife Carole Tabor of Myrtle Beach, SC; his grandchildren Brooke and Jeffrey Martin, Keerstyn and Brynlee Tabor; brother-in-law Ted Lyons and several nieces and nephews. His greatest joy came from spending time with his family and friends but most of all spending time with his grandchildren. Poppy lived for his grandchildren Brooke, Jeffrey, Keerstyn and Brynlee. The smile on his face at a soccer or softball game would always reflect how proud he was of everything his grandchildren accomplished. His other favorite pastime was taking Carol on cruises and beach getaways with their family and friends. Funeral will be Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 9:30 am at Richard H. Disque Funeral Home, 2940 Memorial Highway, Dallas PA 18612 with Funeral Mass at 10:00 Am at Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township. Friends may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 Pm at the Funeral Home.
